Other Attractions in Post

When planning your visit to our historic city, try to allow your group plenty of time to explore our downtown area, which has been called a mini-Fredericksburg!! There are several very unique shops that the ladies will love, as well as a bookstore for the men, antiques stores for everyone, one entire store devoted to the wonder of Christmas, small department stores for those items that may have been left at home and all the fast food you could hope to find in larger cities!

The famous trade days of Post are held on the first weekend of every month, vendors line the sidewalks of downtown Post and bargains are to be found. Bring your checkbook because you won’t want to leave Post without a souvenir of your time with us!

In addition, Post has two outstanding museums documenting the rich history of Post/Garza County and housing one of the finest private collections in the country.

The OS Ranch Museum is located at 201 E. Main and is open 9-12 and 1-5 on Saturdays. The huge collection has been amassed during the travels of Giles McCrary. He visited over 132 countries around the world and brought home coins, stamps, nativity sets, rugs, textiles, paintings, sculpture, and jade. Exhibits are rotated three times throughout the year, so each visit to the museum will guarantee new and wonderful things to see! Call 806-495-3570. Docents are available to guide you through the museum and answer your questions.

The Garza County Historical Museum is located at 119 North Ave N and houses a collection of artifacts that chronicle the earliest beginnings of Post, from it’s founding by cereal magnate CW Post in 1907 to it’s rich tradition of the west… ranching, farming and cowboys! Our curator, Linda Puckett is knowledgeable about the local history and can answer your questions about this fascinating town off the Llano. They are open 10-12 and 1-3 on Saturdays. You can phone the museum at 806-495-2207.
